Dr. P Prakash Rao

Dr. P Prakash Rao is a senior Ophthalmologist based in Bangalore, with more than three decades of experience as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon. Since the last 11 years, he has been heading the Ophthalmology Department of Sagar Hospital at Jayanagar Extension. He can also be consulted at the Shantha Netralaya, located at Wilson Garden.

Dr. Prakash Rao trained in India, UK and USA, and specialises in the latest techniques of cataract surgery and refractive surgery. He has obtained the DOMS and MS (Ophthalmology) titles from Kasturba Medical College in Mangalore as his speciality qualifications, and is also a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmology (MRCOphth) in London. He underwent specialised training in cataract surgery and medical retina in the UK, and is proficient in treating all retinal disorders, especially those related to diabetes. He has performed over 10,000 cataract surgeries in India and abroad.

Dr. Prakash Rao has been performing Lasik surgery for the last 15 years with a very high success rate. He trained initially in the USA and has performed all types of refractive surgeries. Dr. Rao has also organised and participated in eye camps in India, and in Cambodia and Vietnam under the aegis of Rotary International.
